Shirley Cowcher (AALIA, AACS, MRMAA, MRCSA, B. App. Sc. (Library and Information Studies), Grad. Dip. Comp.)
Shirley's expertise lies in systems analysis. With a graduate diploma in computing Shirley is well equipped to assist clients develop and formulate user requirements for computerised library and records management systems, evaluation of software, and database design.
She has developed systems to support records management functions using text retrieval and database software and has conducted systems evaluations and testing of turn key and in-house developed records management software. In addition, Shirley has compiled subject specific library and records management thesauruses and retention and disposal schedules, as well as project managed implementation projects.
As a recognised industry leader in records and information managment, Shirley has been asked to speak at numerous functions and presented professional papers at a number of conferences, including Library management, information management, records management, knowledge management – They're all the same! which was given at the Specials Library Conference in Melbourne in August 2001.
Shirley is a qualified trainer, and has conducted system training in a wide variety of software packages. She has also lectured on a part-time basis at the Curtin University School of Information and Library Studies in core units for the Bachelor of Applied Science (Records Management) degree. In addition, Shirley has been an external marker for records management units offered through both Edith Cowan University and Curtin University of Technology.
