Prior to leaving and government to take up roles in the private sector, Janine Douglas was the Manager, Planning and Evaluation at the Western Australian Department of Agriculture and Food (DAFWA). In this position she was responsible for policies and methodologies to support corporate planning processes, evaluation and performance management. She also led a project to establish a Project Management Office for the Department.

From 1998 – 2002 Janine was responsible for information and knowledge management across DAFWA. Then in early 2003 she went on a two year secondment to the Western Australian Government's whole-of-government project to implement shared corporate services where she was the project leader for information management.

During her career in the Western Australian Public Sector Janine has been the Director of the Western Australian State Reference Library and the inaugural Manager of the then Records Management Office.

Janine has completed a PhD investigating information cultures in the public sector and their ability to impact on strategic outcomes. She has a Bachelor of Applied Science (Information and Library Science), a Graduate Diploma in Policy Science and a Master of Arts (Futures Studies).
